Hey everyone, it's Terri (Reagan's friend/passenger/whatever who takes a lot of photos, LOL)
The CSU campus ministry I'm a part of wants to hold an auto/bike show to raise money for Relay for Life. I've helped with a similar show back home (Gum Creek, Oxford, GA), so I'm feeling okay... but I'd appreciate any input or advice, particularly about the date.
General info:
PLACE: Edgewood Presbyterian (Corner of University & Macon - where they sell pumpkins every October)
DATE: Any suggestions? I had chosen Apr 14, and since the Commerce show wasn't listed in the folder here I assumed no one was going to it... but I've since seen the thread in another folder. I really need to make a decision to get ads out, but at this point I'm nearly frustrated enough to scrap it and forget Relay altogether this year.
Here are potential dates & what I see as the major competition. Any thoughts?
Mar 17 -->Albany, GA (Motorized Vehicle Show)
Mar 24 -->Macon, GA (Mustang & Ford Show)
Mar 31 -->Reynolds, GA (All Ford Show)
Apr 7 -->Easter Weekend
Apr 14 -->Commerce, GA (Fun Ford Weekend)
Apr 21 -->Columbus, GA (Port Columbus)
Apr 28 -->Edgewood is in Pine Mountain, so I'd lose half the volunteers and entrants.
May 6 -->Relay for Life (too late!)
COST: $10/pre-registration; $15/drive up. T-shirts, lunch, cotton candy, snow cones, Cokes additional.
PRIZES: First 75 get bags & dash plaques. Door prizes (gift certificates to promotional items, but hopefully everyone wins something). 25 trophies, with one overall winner and 24 divided by class.
OTHER NOTES:
*I have a couple of leads on potential sponsors for the trophies & dash plaques, so we wouldn't have to put money out on those. (Anyone used Cody Road trophies, or have other suggestions?)
*Screenprinted, color shirts are cheap through Party City - any other good sources?
*My parents run the cotton candy & snow cones, so that's no worry, no cost.
*The church will actually handle the meal, assuming we include it. Pre-sold tickets, with a small amount to offer for sale on the day of show.
*Advertising will include visits to local car clubs, an ad in Ragtops & Runningboards next month, flyers at relevant businesses & CSU, and through the Presbytery & 9 local PCUSA churches.
*We've extended invitations to two potential judges, but want to have at least three.
Thankfully I mapped out a lot of this last summer when we first considered the idea, but now I'm trying to narrow down the details fast to get this out there.
Thanks for any suggestions!
