View Full Version : Sonic Cruise Ins - Atlanta Area
Maybe we should do some negotiating with the Sonics in our area. Look what they do in the North Atlanta area Sonics!

Now THAT is what I call a CRUISE IN! Free Burgers to boot for us to bring our cars!

We tried that last year with SMOC, but we only did it once. They offered us free food to the drivers, but the manager wasn't there the night we came so the ones that were there said they didn't know anything about that deal.
I think you could make it work though, you'd just have to stay on top of things and keep in contact with the manager.
I think when negotiating something like that with an owner or manager, you should set a certain day/time each month and stick with it. That way everybody stays on the same page and eventually all of the personnel get to know the organization(s) and know what deals you are getting. It is kind of bad when the managers don't communicate these things to the employees so it should be kind of important to get some kind of official paperwork stating the deals being made to show the person in charge at the time of the event.
I know Columbus doesn't hold water compared to Atlanta's huge and diverse population but there are some nice rides in this town that can be showed off at these places. The big thing about the Atlanta Sonics is that they're having comedians and bands coming to perform. That is really COOL.
I wasn't aware of that but thanks for bringing it to my attention. If I wasn't aware of it, I wonder how many of the others weren't aware of it either. If you can, keep us posted on those events and I'll make it a point to come at least once a month, even if it is on Tuesday Nights.
I would imagine that if it's a "Cruise-In" type of event, we really don't have to make plans. We just 'show up' if we wish to participate. Sorry, I didn't see the posting but I'll definitely plan to go check it out and if other CCS members wish to go, then all that's necessary is that they show up.

maybe we can get a radio station involved like Rock 103 or something. The station I used to listen to back in Buffalo, NY brought out a ton of cars to the mall every wednesday. They have burnout contests, show cars of all kinds, DB contests, food vendors, and everything.
heres the link from the station if anybody is interested:

Here are some pictures from the events:

Last time I was there, in 2001. I think there were about 3 cars in the burnout contest that blew tires, and one engine, I think it was a headgasket, trying to win, thats how hardcore the people at the shows are up there

there was everything from model a's to imports at the shows in Buffalo
Well we have several things that would have to happen before something like this can happen. Number one, we'd have to get something set up and word out so that it would gather the interest. Number two, and this would be the biggest challenge, we would need PARTICIPATION.
We might even have to find some other local clubs or individuals that would also like to make this event something worth having, even if it's once a month. If indeed something like this did get set up, what kind of participation would we expect out of the members of CCS? 10 per cent? 25? 50? Can we ever have an event where we get 75 per cent participation? 75 per cent would be a great number! Even 50 would be acceptable the way things have been lately.
We are in an organization I would have given anything for being in when I was younger and owned a '66 (and '79) Mustang. I was in a little 'Stang Gang' in high school where there were five of us driving a '65, '66, '68, '69 and a '72 Mustang and I thought that was pretty good. We'd all five cruise to the Shoney's drive in on Macon Road once a month and everyone loved to see our cars. Some even wanted to race them! Maybe that makes me an 'old man' in many of the member's eyes but it is a love I've grown up with ever since I was five years old and my oldest sister entered the family driveway with a brand new red '66 Mustang that I literally fell head over heals for. Let's just say this is how I stay in touch with my youth and it's something you'll understand as you get older. We're blessed to have something like this but yet we're not making the best of what we have here.
We have some really great people here that are really making contributions to make this a better organization but there are a few that don't share some people's enthusiasms and only throw dirt in the faces of those that do participate. Sure, some criticisms can be expected but that's all we get out of some of those people. All I can say to them is this: If you don't like the way things are going, then instead of being so critical, put something positive onto the table or get the hell out of the way!
Sorry so long winded but I felt it needed to be said. Now let's look forward to some really good things happening in CCS over the next few months (years?). Now who's in?
