Question CCS Website Poll

I've been looking at the figures for the site and comparing to the cost to maintain and with the few 'regular' posters that we have it might be better off to just run the club from the facebook page. Downside to that is we will lose the forum but gain easier access to creating events, notifying members, and posting pictures. Also 'big' forums like www.mustangforums.com are now branching out and opening regional chapters (http://mustangforums.com/forum/georg...l-chapter-145/). We could sign-up on that forum and use that section for posting and possibly gain more members for other areas of Georgia. So please feel free and chime in with you opinion and answer the poll so we can judge how everyone feels about the topic.

If we do decide to keep the website we will desperately need to find a place to move the hosting and try to cut some costs...

The website is a great tool for recruitment and member discussion, but I know it can get expensive. I imagine more people search Google than facebook when looking for something like a mustang club. The forums are also a much better place for discussion for planning events, ride of the month, polling, classified selling, and allows for a separate CCS member section.

I wouldn't mind seeing some advertisements go up to help pay for the site, just so long as they are not very obtrusive. Some Google text based ads on the main site, and perhaps on the forums would help bring some revenue in.

Maybe even some local vendors would pay to have their logo placed on our website... As you suggested, perhaps we can also find a cheaper hosting source.

I'll disagree on some portions of that...now-a-days 'most' people have facebook or email on their phones so sending a mass message to the club will be simple and also posting up invites to get the word out and of course pictures. The downside is the lose of forums and tech section but how often is that used around here? We see each other so often we pretty much know what all is going on with each members car. In my view we have about 5 regular posters, some lurkers, and then the others. If the forum was more active this thread wouldn't have even been made. We definitely need to go through some steps of getting some new members and trying to keep them active within the club. I know things change in people's life and that is very understandable. Just think about last weekend, we had 34 people total and I'm not sure how many cars. If we could get that group to post regularly we would be in a lot better position. Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. I'm going to check around on hosting prices and see if we can start saving $$$ somewhere...Lets keep the thoughts a rolling in, thanks for your opinion STEALTH.

Some people (me included) can not access Facebook from work or from our internet enabled work phones.

Just something to consider.

good points so far...the site has cost me 20.79 a month for like the last three years...i pay it because i enjoy it...but kevo is right about the amount of usage...the point about work access is very good because i fall in the same boat...however, i have my DROID to handle that...interested to see how this plays out...I'm down which ever way it falls...good post kevo...keep it moving

$20.79 more in my pocket wouldn't hurt...that's half a tank of gas! lol
